Serena Williams, a champion at many things – tennis, the first African American woman, along with her champion sister Venus, to hold stake in an NFL franchise, and founder of multiple businesses plus being one of the highest paid female athletes on the planet – interviewed with Forbes about not giving in to fear, the over-the-top issue that plagues everyone some point in their lives until they realize it’s all mental.
In the interview, Serena verifies that it was fear that kept her from a win led her to a loss in 1999, and that was when she decided – never again. Fear is definitely not the path to take, but the best path, according to Serena, is to “work hard”. This is her advice to entrepreneurs.
Serena Williams founded her own venture capital firm, Serena Ventures, which invests in founders “who are changing the world” and has already invested in an estimated 30 companies, providing the revenue for them to grow and succeed.
She is also the founder of S by Serena, a fashion label that empowers all to feel confident.
