Snoop Dogg Takes Ownership of Death Row Records & Has Vision For Its Future

According to AP, rap artist Snoop Dogg has taken ownership of Death Row Records, the same record label that launched his career among others who represented West Coast rap in the 1990s.

Most people are familiar with Death Row Records when they hear the name Suge Knight who lost the label in 2006, but as far as the music is concerned, it is Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and Tupac and several others that come to mind as they all took the music scene by storm. The influence of the artists on Death Row Records was so great that at any point if the music is played today, there is an immediate thrilling reaction because the sound is so unique, what many can argue that is missing from today’s rap music.

Snoop Dogg is excited to have acquired Death Row Records to which he knows has “untapped future value.” What that future vision Snoop Dogg has for Death Row Records is unknown at the moment, but surely we can hope for a sound that is a cut above all the rest because that’s what the label is remembered for musically.
