Bentley University has made something happen that has never happened in the history of its founding. It has appointed the first Black president to the university. His name is Dr. E. LaBrent Chrite.
Dr. Chrite has ties to one of the first Black universities in the state of Florida – Bethune-Cookman – where he led the university into better standing academically while also taking them out of probation.
Dr. Chrite has history at the University of Denver at the College of Business as well as Montclair State University where he served as the dean of the Feliciano School of Business. Therefore, one can say he is a veteran of business and knows how to build and follow through as a problem solver.
He has a PhD from the University of Michigan and BA from Michigan State University while also earning an MS from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
