Black America has its own set of needs that must be tackled, and one way to tackle these needs are by identifying the most needed businesses in Black America. Black America is very diverse, and each community has specific items that need to be addressed from within as far as opportunity and economic growth. Below are some areas or businesses that could seed tremendous impact in Black America:
- Health and Wellness: Mental Health services are much needed in Black America, and therapists can and should open their own businesses to provide much needed counseling withing the community. For too long, ,therapy has been a taboo issue in Black America, however, more recently, Black America has been more accepting of it overall and have enjoyed the benefits of it, from the youth to the elderly. Black Mental Health Specialists are key to establishing better mental health services to Black America because it’s much easier for the specialist to understand the cultural perspective.
- Financial Services: Financial literacy is needed in Black America, and through financial institutions, such as Black-owned banks and insurance companies, being readily available from within the community, this could build a better foundation for generational wealth through knowledge and access.
- Real Estate and Housing: Although there are several affluent communities in Black America, there are still some Black communities that need more affordable housing development. Black-owned real estate investment firms can address these housing needs and make build wealth through real estate ownership a top priority.
- Food and Agriculture: Grocery Stores are one of the top needs for Black American communities. Too often do we find food deserts where many people have to travel far out in order to get meals. Connecting Black-owned farms with Black-owned grocery stores and restaurants will produce a circular benefit to all which can improve food security and keep prices reasonable.
- Education, Apprenticing and Tutoring Services: After-school programs, tutoring centers, and educational technology along with apprenticing can provide the enhancements to public schooling while providing work experience and references for proven success.
These sectors present great business opportunities in Black America but also contribute to their economic empowerment and resilience.
