Soul Culture is rooted and founded in African American culture in the USA. From the cultural foods of African Americans which is called Soul Food to Soul Music and soul music icons such as James Brown, the Godfather of Soul stretching to Soul Brother and Soul Sister to even movies such as the movie Soul Food and Soul Plane and television show Soul Train, Soul Culture was born out of Black America South, all the way back from the sounds of Black Gospel, and is a fundamental part of Black Culture.
Out of Soul Culture came NeoSoul, and without soul, Hip Hop would never be. Soul is a crucial cultural element in the everyday lives of Black Americans, down so far as some in the younger generations have coined a term Soulaan, a name to add to who they are as a specific group of people.
This Black History Month 2025, we celebrate the history of Soul Culture inside of Black American Culture, also better known as and historically known as Black Culture. Since the co-founding of the USA, African Americans have continued to be a major part of the cultural wealth of the United States. In fact, it is Black American people who are the Soul of the Nation, showing the nation their err in the Civil Rights Movement, led by God-fearing pastors and leaders.
Therefore, whenever you hear Soul Brother or Soul Sister and even Soul Food, you know where it comes from and who it’s referring to – African Americans’ long-standing culture in the USA.
